SAFETY

For The Children, has served over 170,000 campers and mentees with over 240,000 church-based volunteers since 1985.  Our camp and mentoring programs are designed to uniquely serve children who have been abused, abandoned, and neglected.

Our volunteers are specifically trained to serve vulnerable children. For The Children has enacted numerous policies and procedures to serve over 7,000 children per year with over 21,000 volunteers in over 200 locations. We prioritize safety, trauma-informed care, and fun for every child participating in our Royal Family KIDS programs.

We believe that the local Church can stand at the forefront of child safety. Through rigorous safety practices, our chapters demonstrate the care that God has for each precious child.

Child Protection Plan

Our Child Protection Plan is extensive. In collaboration with each chapter, For The Children outlines volunteer requirements for recruitment, screening, training, and monitoring in all programs.

It includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • National criminal background checks
  • Written applications
  • In-person interviews with volunteers
  • Initial and continual training for all volunteers
  • Sexual abuse prevention training
  • Stringent policies and accountability designed to avoid private one-on-one situations
  • Age-appropriate information for the children about safety, personal boundaries and reporting
  • Training key leaders in screening and interview techniques
  • Educating all volunteers to report inappropriate or questionable behavior
  • Regularly updated training of leaders through required national and regional events
  • Regularly updated training materials provided for local volunteers
  • Working closely with Social Services to follow their protective policies and procedures in additional to those listed by For The Children
  • Board oversight of Child Protection Plan

Our Father’s Children exists to provide HOPE to children of abuse and neglect in Texas, ages 6-18, in week-long camp settings and weekend retreats. We recruit volunteers from a variety of cities, churches and organizations who have a heart for offering these kids hope in Jesus Christ. Whether as a volunteer or donor (or both), we would love to have you join us in providing hope to these kids!
